Good stuff Funk and others. The following will be a bit of a rant I’m afraid! *Edit* Lots of one reading it back. Feel totally free to skip over, it was therapeutic for me!

Liverpool have had to be basically perfect at every level to even compete with City. It’s not realistic to expect any club to maintain this run of decision making brilliance. Just look at our transfer decisions over the last few years. It’s hit after hit. I’m not saying this as a ‘look how brilliant we are’ post at all. It’s just a fact that we’ve spent relatively little (in net spend terms) and yet have had unprecedented transfer success. And in terms of on field organisation and tactical instruction etc Klopp is one of the 3/4 best coaches in the world. So over the last 4 years, in terms of accumulating points we’ve been better than any PL team in history, aside from one, by a country mile (I’ve not fact checked this but 92, 97, 99 points in 3 of those seasons is pretty unprecedented). Now it should probably be acknowledged that City’s brilliance (and unlimited resources) have pushed us on to those heights, and I suspect our brilliance has pushed City on, but City will continue to accumulate 90 points relatively straightforwardly every season and spend vast amounts to do it. And they’ll do it all whilst shamelessly claiming to have bigger commercial income than Man Utd, which is an absolute absurdity. I’m bitter and venting and it’s sour grapes as far as on pitch results and performances go but it’s also true that if it weren’t for Klopp City would have won this league 5 times in a row, and that has never happened in the PL era. And if it weren’t for Klopp City would have won 3 of their titles by a country mile.

So yes I’m angry that the best Liverpool side we’ll ever see has been beaten by a club with unlimited resources who have been breaking the financial rules for years and getting away with it.

i think a UEFA wide wage cap is the simplest solution. not one tied to income, but a flat figure that would effectively rein in the big spenders.
leveraged takeovers shouldn't be allowed, nor state owned/influenced (though where you draw the line here could get tricky) and clubs with excessive debts get penalised with a reduction in their max wage cap.
there's enough money in football that all teams should be able to manage to function without reliance on hugely wealthy owners

Of course not, but Liverpool's performance levels have been insanely high for years now. Every possible game played so far this season across all comps with 2 games lost.

My mates who've gone to Paris are having a great time. Just been watching footage from the fan park and various bars. Absolutely bouncing.
