First time I saw him I thought he was the weakest link in a scene from a mockumentary I was watching called People Just Do Nothing. Turns out he's a real person.
I've become completely obsessed with this imbecile. He looks, sounds and acts like James Cordon doing an Ali G-esque comedy character, but it is in fact a real person just going about his business completely non-ironically. I didn't realise Tim 'Big Dog' Westwood has been entirely usurped by the Sloth creature. He's taken all his shows, his prestige, he's taken his ridiculousness and dialed it up by several orders of magnitude. In fairness, many London teens, twenty somethings and twats do speak like Charlie Sloth now so he has that authenticity that Westwood never had. Although I do think its possible to keep it too real. Observe.
Detesting him only lasted a very short time for me. I did an evening of YouTube videos whilst puffin' da 'erb, and quickly decided he's marvellous. He's Madeley as Ali G + Dom Jolly with a boombox x a mild mental affliction. Don't fight it, he's wonderful.
Charlie Sloth is certainly entertaining on all kinds of levels but he's done wonders for new artists. Much more than Westwood did. Fire in the Booth has some absolute amazing verses.

Don't want to give him credit for the interestingness, but his fit within current race/rap climate is interesting.
New album has some excellent beats and production of the pop/rap variety. But also has some interesting guests. KRS for one.
Macklemore's lyrics are kinda like Sociology for dummies, or my first race relations, but he also skirts an awkward line as far as appropriation goes, funnily enough, a line that Em never felt like he was skirting, really.
Downtown is hmmm. As are a couple of others.
White Privilege II is the obvious supposedly interesting one, but I'm really not sure it adds much to anything.
Can't stand Charlie Sloth.
My kitchen radio is always tuned to 1xtra but if it is his show on I will turn it off.
Very much the Westwood of his generation. Annoying twat that is/was in with artists but will rapidly become an embarrassing joke.
Much prefer Rinse FM to 1xtra really but they don't broadcast on digital, or at least my radio doesnt pick them up.
As for Kano, he has been excellent since way back when.
Im sure I posted this video of Kano vs Wiley before.
edit: well I wanted to show Wiley vs Kano battling on Lords of the Mic from way back but it has been taken down.
Fucking bullshit is that. I know the guy who owns the footage and there is no way he would take any of his stuff down.
If you guys who are into Hip Hop and like Kano and that grime sound then check out SBTV on youtube.
Check out Boy Better Know as probably the lead label.
