Question: there is a mystery film showing tomorrow in Glasgow that's a U. It's the UK premiere, but I don't think it's The Wind Rises because that is slated for a February 2014 release. What Anime film might it be, ideas?
Am intrigued Tempy. Just checked the website and apparently the film's not out in Japan yet, so I'm thinking it could be Isao Takahata's Kaguyahime no Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kaguya) for Studio Ghibli. I remember reading that this was supposed to be released alongside Miyazaki's The Wind Rises in an echo of the their Totoro/Grave of the Fireflies pairing but apparently got delayed 'til November.
Maybe too much to hope for, but it'd be a real treat if it was this.
Makoto Shinkai's new short film, Dareka no Manazashi (Someone’s Gaze), is up on YouTube with English Subs, though you need to turn them on via the captions option.
Ooh oho Miyazaki, Takahata and Shinkai talk has me salivating. Where do you guys get your up to date anime news? I occasionally browse a mag in WHSmith but that's it.
Anime News Network purely for new announcements/release dates, or Crunchyroll. If a series catches my eye I'll try it out on Crunchyroll, I'll usually give up soon after.
I started watching that years ago, before the internets were really a place of free animu en masse. I think I made it two or three overpriced DVD's from Forbidden Planet's worth of episodes in before I stopped.
I remember quite liking the mech designs at the time. Might go back and check it out again, can't remember why I stopped watching it now.
"Let me tell you, when yung Rouj had his Senna and Mansell Scalextric, Frank was the goddamn Professor X of F1."
Kill La Kill is as exuberant as I'd expect given the Gurren Lagann pedigree but I have no more patience for ho-ho-skimpy-outfit-how-perverted-lol-but-also-hawt shit anymore. Ya blew it, dorks.
So, finally up to date on Detective Conan. Think I'll leave it a while before I try to start another ridiculously long series....like Hajime no ippo for instance
