I've never realised it before but ff9 is different from its precursors in that it incorporates jazz themes.
Which is interesting. It also sounds more like a film ost.

That's quite unusual for someone growing up in that era but fair enough.
SoR2 is considered one of the best, always preferred the original tbh along with a few others. Most of the post Street Fighter II ones were lost on me, one on one fighters killed them really.
Thing is that I got bored after rinsing them in the 90s. Games like DMC and Bayonetta are the evolved versions of those games and I adore them, and/so I don't feel like going back to Final Fight type games anymore.
SoR2 may be considered one of the best, but that's not saying much anymore.
I went off the repetitive simplicity of scrolling beat 'em ups in the late 90s, but find them quite refreshing now. Oddly, it's one-on-one fighters that I have absolutely no time for these days - I used to happily play any old crap as long as it only had two fighters on screen.
Been listening to chunks of the Bayo ost in the morning. It really does have some fantastic choral pieces for bosses. I'd love to ask Yamaguchi what research he did for the soundtrack.
