That picture doesn’t relate to this situation, because Kane’s movement is distracting Lovren. Saying, “it’s a new phase of play,” would suggest that any play of the ball negates any rule break before it, which it doesn’t. The linesman should have ruled that Kane was offside before Lovren touches it. The fact that he doesn’t wave his flag in the split second doesn’t stop him waving his flag and the ref bringing the play back.

Shame about the kick.
If we learnt anything from last year it's that they have to take the points early against The Patriots to counter the comeback later.
He moves to receive the ball, forcing Lovren to act, and arguably distracting him enough for him to fluff it. He’s active.WorKid wrote:Standing in an offside position is not breaking any rules though.

Kane is behind Lovren. The ball comes to Kane. Lovren chose to play the ball; Kane didn't make him. If Lovren had missed the ball or left the ball then Kane would have been offside.
The FA laws explain it simply. Pretty much everyone on here gets it. All the refs I've heard agree it was onside. But seemingly you know best.
