A couple of NPCs refer to him, one gives you a side-quest.

I don't know if this gameplay mechanic is a regular Zelda thing, or if it's new to BotW. Anyway...

You can sell him monster parts, as harvested from defeated enemies. He does not give you rupees in return, but a secondary currency called 'mon'. He says he is the only person who accepts mon as payment, and I believe that. You can then buy stuff from him with said mon. The first two items I've bought are a bokoblin mask and a moblin mask. He tells me that, while wearing the respective masks, you can 'blend in' with said creatures. I've not had a chance to try them out yet, but that's going to add another option (or set of options) for tackling (or, indeed, ignoring) enemy camps and the like.

Wait till you see what else you can get...

Yep, unless you've got a few hearts that's gonna be tough. It's doable but the enemies hit hard and then it's right back to the start.

2 Stamina upgrades.
Some kit upgrades done.

I really should have a pop at the big man but I still don't feel prepared.

I've found two of the main areas.

And am doing the latter tomorrow (would've been today but got sidetracked for three hours, am at the actual dungeon now). I've unlocked all of the Southern map, missing a few shrines i think. Majority of the north still to do. Loved the maze i found, was good fun with a few very nice rewards.

Can't find Korok seed guy after first time i met him, however. I guess I'll meet him later, I've got enough space tbh.
