Not so. Pretty sure Sonic was the first to say it. And back in the Master System days there was much confusion (as it happened, the Seegas and the Seggas were both wrong, but the former more so).cockbeard wrote:Also no-one ever said SEE-GA, if there was ever any ambiguity the MegaDrive told you how to say it at the start of almost every game

Some people pronounced the 'e' as in egg some as in see. Then Sega told us it was more like the 'ay' in say, and that was that.Yossarian wrote:? You have some funny ideas around pronunciation, Jon.Seegas and the Seggas were both wrong, but the former more so.

Because one sounds closer to the right one than the other. And the Seega people were always morans anyway.Yossarian wrote:I get that bit, I don't understand why you think one incorrect pronunciation is more correct than another incorrect pronunciation. Some people pronounced the 'e' as in egg some as in see. The Altered Beast one was the only one at launch. Sonic came out the year after.cockbeard wrote:Sonic was a packin title that was out at it's European launch. So pretty much everybody who had a megadrive also had Sonic (except those numpties who went and got the Altered Beast one instead)

I got confused by the assertion that the MegaDrive didn't tell people how to say Sega. Even if Sonic was the first game with it (which I don;t think it was) Sonic was a packin title that was out at it's European launch. So pretty much everybody who had a megadrive also had Sonic (except those numpties who went and got the Altered Beast one instead)
