It's not a Saturn or Dreamcast but the company that puts out those little Mega Drive things is doing a substancially revised one this year with new innards, HD and mini MD1 shape with cart slot. Might be good, might be shit, worth keeping an eye on if you want mini Sega stuff though.

Save states, rewind gameplay (!).

First time I've been interested in one.

Apparently not. There's the Retron 77 and the new Flashback 8. But Ataribox is something new that apparently is not based on old hardware.

Things like Alien3 or Jurassic Park etc are extremely unlikely to happen though due to the licensing.

Unfortunately a lot of Western developers from the era have either been bought out or simply don't exist anymore, so that creates another headache.

Basically it boils down to the big 5/6 Japanese developers for lists, and even then license issues will pop up like Buster Bursts Loose.

The Wii Virtual Console is a good reference for what's realistically available for these things.

Shame they didn't go the kickstarter type route instead.
One page. Loads of preorders, select the console make, a choice of three game packs and let everyone decide how many they are buying.
Have a nice little total, stretch type goals. Build a community.

Super Tennis on SNES is still probably one of the hardest games I've ever played.

I recall seeing a clay court for the first time on SP after three months or so of owning the game and being blown away by its inclusion.

Got utterly smashed and didn't see it again for a long time.

Memory may serve me wrong but clay seemed rare...
