Your assesment is correct.bad_hair_day wrote:It’s an over long, heartless, contrary, wasteful, unfunny mess which has put me off The Star Wars but that’s just my opinion man.

However it was also well executed, with great performances from the actors, and a few great moments that all hinted that this had the potential to be awesome, which just makes the whole thing harder to bear.
I disagree about TFA, which had an extremely difficult job to pull off. It needed to be a bridge between the old and new and all things considered I think it did it very, very well.I_R wrote:It actually surprised me how much I hated it, I've not really bothered about this stuff for years and can usually enjoy a train wreck. It's got me worried that I'm going to start commenting on Youtube in caps lock. It makes TFA worse because it confirms JJ Abrams or Disney were winging it. It's starting to make me think that Rogue One was a masterpiece and I'd be the first to admit the script for that is a disjointed mess. It makes the prequels look better, good would be going too far.
I agree with this. I also agree with some of what SuperFly is saying about TFA doing a good job about bridging old and new etc., but for me it also has a lot of issues that I was prepared to let slide on the assumption/hope it was setting up the next parts of the story.I_R wrote:It makes TFA worse because it confirms JJ Abrams or Disney were winging it.
