It's a hard sell - a sort of deliberately discordant folk(ish) record, with songs set in 6th Century Bryneich. Still, buried in the noise are some genuinely beautiful melodies, and the tales of prostitutes, soldiers and weavers from long ago feel surprisingly relevant. ("Prostitute" for instance, is depressingly timely.) Here's "Weaver" which feels about as representative as a single song could be from a record which joys in zigging when you expect it to zag.
Good man, love me some Kyuss, heavy and sludgy but with a vicious groove innit. Saw Kyuss Lives incarnation (sans Homme) a few years back and it were somethin'. Fuck me though if John Garcia doesn't look completely different to when in his heyday, can still sing rather well.Liveinadive wrote:Kyuss
I was way too young to be into them when they were around. Heard of them when QotSA were big but wasn't my thing at the time, was still quite young.
Hadn't even seen the name or heard them for over a decade and had their name popped up twice in the last few days so thought I would give them another go and I am loving it.
