I’m clearing out my CDs and thought I’d ask whether any of you lot want anything.
I’ve sold off the stuff that’s worth a bob or two, And plan to offload the rest as a job lot. Should get a few hundred for it, even from chancers like Music Magpie.
Just checking before I do that … and badgers want to buy the lot off me instead? 800/900-ish CDs, which could be boxed up and couriered. I’ve got an offer of £600 for the lot from a dealer down south, but would do it cheaper for a badger.
Also … I can email a spreadsheet of the whole lot if any of you want to scan through and maybe buy a few individual picks. I’ll basically do that at Discogs prices - whatever their algo says each one is worth.
My supervisor has been driving me to work since March. Long journeys, accompanied by albums he's fished out that never made it to his ipod (I get Wednesdays). A real mixed bag, it's been amusing. Today's effort is the unexpectedly solid Good God's Urge by Porno for Pyros, really enjoying it.
Are there any words more sure to strike terror into the heart than a new visual album
From Beyoncé based on the lion king ?? Fuck right off and when you’ve got there fuck off again
There’s a new album from Hum! I didn’t expect that. I don’t think anybody expected that. Turns out it came out a month or two ago and I just didn’t find out until now.
Catching up on some Red Hand Files, the three parter where Nick tries to wangle a free piano is rather good.
Spoiler from the end of part three, as I can't link to them on the desktop at work:
Spoiler:
As Mike from Birmingham says, "why don't you just buy your own fucking piano, you cheap cunt". Mike is right, God bless him. I really should just buy my own piano.
I've listened to the new Taylor Swift a few times now. I know there is probably a bunch of indie artists that have done something like this and they're amazing etc. But I'm really enjoying it, it seems to suit her voice a lot. I doubt we'll get something like this again from her next time, or for a long time, but I think she's tried something and it's worked.
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts...
I listened once through, seemed quite good. Very Lana Del Rey in places, to the point where it was eyebrows up for a particular track, but the whole thing appeared to be a worthwhile diversion. Will have another go.
I need to dive back in to it too. Only gave it an initial listen last week, but liked most of it. Felt over long, of anything - I’d trim a few samey tracks.
Thats not pennywort or BR but I get where you are hearing it. Its them. Its really REALLY them. To the extent there's shite jokes in the chorus. That was them before Enema. It is actually great.
The old YouTube rabbit-hole occasionally throws up some absolute belters.
A bout of nostalgia lead me back to this hilariously iconic performance by Suzi Quatro on Top of the Pops from 1974, which is easily the best thing you'll see on the 'Toob today.
Mad props to her band of Ramones-esque jobbers for fully embracing the choreographed madness, and I have to say I'd have give my eye-teeth to be a fly on the wall while they put this routine together...
But I digress, this in turn lead me to a massive arena concert she played in Czechoslovakia from 1979. It's not a great concert tbh, her chart-topping days were over by that point, but the interesting thing here is that it turns out that our Suzi is actually a really good bass player. Who fucking knew?
