Games of the Year #unofficial #novoting #justlistingandchatting
  • I'm gonna have to play Outer Worlds (yes Worlds) before I make any GotY decisions.
I really hope it can match my expectations, which are basically F:NV but less clunky.

I meant worlds. Will go back and edit.
  • I think two biggies for me were fire emblem and Tetris 99
  • Tbh, with last year, I got no problem saying sts wasn't released, dead cells as goty and sts in this time.

Meanwhile, just did a rough count.

    Hrs played:

Sts 1098 (closer to 800 going by sts internal timer, not steam)

Everything else in my steam list: 625.

I'm still great and you still love it.

That wasnt directed at yourself but your Wilds reference did prompt me to mention Worlds.

We need a committee to sort these names out.
  • Days Gone.   Stunningly average in many departments, laughably bad in others.  And yet, and yet, there was something special going on under the hood. Tearing up the countryside on your motorcycle whilst zombies screamed in the wake of exhaust fumes, was just so compulsive. While it lasted.  (I made it to the end,  which is saying a lot these days).
It wasn't until I hit my thirties that I realised you could unlock rewards by exploring the map
  • Ive just realized that i havent played a game released this calender year yet. Hollow Knight doesnt count. May have to wait for doom in November

My Legendary run-through of the MCC with @Cosby is my game of the year.

    This makes me jealous

Sts has obviously hammered this year too.

Checking what else I've okayed that's actually 2019 release and I think it'll be something like

    1. Ape Out
    2. Metro exodus
    3. Goose game

And hades in there if it actually gets released. (as per tempehs posts on EA, it's having major chunky game changing updates.)

    To expand:

Ape Out. I love me a simple idea executed well.

Game doesn't overstay welcome, music and art direction are spot on. The way the music is integrated with the action is incredible.

12 hours of gameplay, all fine memories.

    Metro exodus

Knows what it is as well as ape out, but naturally, being a big release, it's a lot more of a mixed bag.

Complaints about cut scenes, pacing, controls, ai, any number of things, are all possibly valid, but all of the metro games just nail place and situation so well. Charging batteries, opening backpack to make more meds and ammo, switching between gasmask, night vision or light, it just suits the game. I don't generally like survival horror, ro games that are too punitive with ammo, but this treads a great balance. You don't feel bad ass, that's not the point, you feel somewhere between compotent and vulnerable at all times.

    Goose game

In by default as its 2019. Delightful so far.
I'm still great and you still love it.

I'm not sure I want to vote for any of the 2019 releases that I've played

    Maybe I'll remember a couple
