Just picked up my old power supply - fully working - from the store I returned it to.
Now I have two identical power supplies and I’m not sure what to do with them. I think they just swapped out the power cable (the one that goes from the brick to the wall) as that was definitely new. Did the repair shop rip me off? Dunno.
Still, I have a working PC now, but I’m out £50 and have something I don’t need and might be difficult to shift.

Built a new pc this weekend and other than a couple little issues it works.
Went with Fractal Torrent white Rbg case as I wanted a torrent and the RGB was all that was available. Because of that I've gone for RGB in the ram and cooler as well. Might be too much RGB.
Pulled the PSU and GFX card from the old build as gfx cards are too expensive right now and I'd rather wait and see. So sticking with the Gtx 1080 I already had.
Not sure tbh, definitely be moving away from the unicorn vomit though that's for sure. It'll be sitting under a desk so it might get turned off altogether anyway as I'll never really see it.
Jesus I could not put that together. Yeah loads of fans. The case comes with 2 180mm fans on the front and 3 140mm fans on the bottom prefitted. It's a really nice case and that's where a lot of the cost goes.
I do think I went overboard with the cooler. It has 2 fans in it and is a bit on the huge side. It reviewed very well but I probably could have got a smaller single fan cooler and that would have been fine.
The 7 7000 apparently can get quite hot, so no bad thing to overspec the cooler. Also gives you head room for overclocking (is that possible on your CPU/mb?).
That's a good point. OC I possible with the 7 7000 though I've never done it before. I assume it's probably worth it but I'll need to look at some guides.
Recommendations for decent cpu for a non-gaming pc? The gf's pc is on the way out so I offered to build one, but I'm not sure about the cpu. She doesn't game at all so the workload will be Teams, Skype, Office, and a million tabs open on Chrome at the same time. Fast booting is a must but I guess that's on the ssd and motherboard too.
Honestly they're all good these days. Intel went shit for a while but AMD competition is keeping them both on their toes. Look for a discount rather than maker. Saying that Ryzen seem to be better at this and a Ryzen 5 will do you just fine if you see it cheap.
