Oliver, thanks for the informative review.
Unfortunately, you also annoyed me just as countless other journalists have done before.
You wrote: “ Most of the Jedi Order, which once acted as intergalactic peacekeepers, are either dead or in hiding.“ That is wrong in two ways. First, the Jedi were only active in one galaxy. The one we were told is “far, far away.” Second, since you probably know that, you apparently think that “intergalactic” is just a cooler synonym of “interstellar,” but it’s not. It baffles me that journalists and newspaper copy editors are unable to keep these simple distinctions straight.
“Interstellar” refers to action among multiple star systems in a single galaxy. It is a term that correctly describes the action in the Star Wars franchise and almost all other science fiction. Because galaxies are so far apart, very little SF exists that is genuinely “intergalactic.”
If you just like the “galactic” sound better than the sound of “stellar,” than the the term to choose is “intragalactic, which may confuse some readers, but at least will be accurate.
Please stop propagating this needless mistake. Repeating it just makes you and the Guardian look ignorant and sloppy.

I mean, whilst you're not wrong, there is an even simpler solution to this burning linguistic problem.
"Galactic" peacekeepers keeps the cooler sounding galactic, without introducing the confusing and unnecessary intra prefix. Galactic, as defined by Merriam Webster means "of or relating to a galaxy and especially the Milky Way galaxy". As peacekeepers of a single galaxy, Galactic is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, whilst also obviously also making them sound like badasses and not network technicians.
Hopefully, the Guardian will be taking on board this commitment to accuracy, especially when it comes to articles about Brexit where these sloppy wordsmiths have been letting the Tories off the hook.
