I've not got anything yet, but that does look interesting.
Battery life they say is 3.75 hours play time, I wonder what that translates to in music play time. I'll send them a tweet and see if they have figures for that. Games wise it's comparable to the Vita and 3DS mind.
Meaning that if it's a popular device someone will hack it and stick an open version of android on it then it'll just be a case of using the play store and paying with your Google account.
Once you have a Google Play account I'd be surprised if it mattered where you access it from or what device you use. The only possible restriction would be if Google Play didn't officially exist in your country, which it does.
FWIW: I have a HTC Desire HD, which is probably slightly outmoded these days, but still has a massive screen, and since I had it looked at, has been running like a champ. Put a 16gig sd card in it, run Rdio through it (it also has an inbuilt MP3 player, but I've not really used it much), sound is fine, haven't tried many games, but the google play thing seems pretty easy to navigate. I am on a 24 month contract, which paid for the phone.
battery life isn't amazing, but then you can usb it into anything, so if I'm using it while driving, I plug it in to the car, and I'm about to rearrange the cords at home so I can have it plugged in while I'm using it at home and listening to music.
It's great for net browsing too, and the b&b functions very well. You really can set it up like a small laptop.
There are and will be good deals on Windows Phone 7 handsets. It's a nimble OS that won't be bogged down by a lower powered processor. The game selection isn't as large as Android but there's still plenty of choice. Achievements in XBL games, good native integration with Xbox messaging. Access to Zune/Xbox Music Pass that gives unlimited offline downloads for £8.99pm.
I know you can get the same on Android with apps and services like Spotify premium, but it's worth thinking about.
Mainly because most of my friends have Android phones, which will let me play games with them. Unless the multi format games work with different OS's?
Also because my first thought was an iPod Touch, then I realised there is likely an Android version of it. I never considered phones before this thread. If I do get a phone instead, it won't be used as a phone, just an MP3 player/games machine.
Not sure if that's a compliment or not. I choose to take it as such.
I tend to keep stuff for quite a while, so whatever I get I want it to be worth it. I have other options for now (my phone, my old phone for short bursts and my PSP), so it's not like I'm without music. However, all aren't ideal, since they have other functions, or the battery lasts about 3 hours in the case of my old phone.
