Definitely one of my all time favorites. The anti cubes aren't too hard once you spend some time with it. Well apart from two of the puzzles that were only solved by hacking the game. I'd still like to know how you're supposed to figure them out properly
I really enjoyed the mechanics of Fez, but I gave up on it at the point that the world became overwhelming. I think I'd have preferred more of a gated progress in a game based around collecting things rather than just being allowed to wander forever and not being able to keep track of what was where, but maybe that's just me.
The map expanding all over the place frightened me into stopping. Went back when it was PS4'd and did exactly the same. It was so lovely up to that point too.
The map is a little off putting. I've half played through it I think three times, and found it all makes a lot of sense when you're playing regularly, but after a break it's quite difficult to return to and pick up where you left off.
Great game though, and there is some real charm to the wandering. On each play through I've stumbled upon different areas that I've not always found again the next time, or haven't seen before.
I saw that QR code puzzle. I said to myself, "Hmmm, that looks a bit like a QR code." and fired up the Barcode Scanner app on my phone.
When it actually worked I was like, "Hooooly fuck!"
Possibly my favourite surprise in any game since the controller swap in Metal Gear Solid 1.
