Blood test tomorrow, followed by a general anaesthetic to clean his teeth. We put the teeth clean off/decided against it around 8 months ago as I was reluctant for him to go under, but the vet reckons that it might be to blame for his current problems - back of the mouth is inflamed/could be infected. Obviously if the bloods show something more sinister we'll have a rethink - tests done in-house so we'd know immediately - but the current plan is for him to go through with the anaesthetic at around midday, with teeth cleaned or possibly removed. Not keen on this at all.
Good luck John Brambo. If it's just teeth that's not so bad, dogs and cats don't seem to get that bothered about them being knackered unlike us. Last time Jones went for a check up he had to have 4 back teeth out, when the vet showed me you could see they were fucked but he hadn't been troubled by them at all.
"Let me tell you, when yung Rouj had his Senna and Mansell Scalextric, Frank was the goddamn Professor X of F1."
He's been anesthetised three times iirc, but not for about 5 years. I'm not convinced it's the teeth causing the not-himselfedness, but I'm not the expert so I'll go with it. Got a half day tomorrow so my wife can bring him home at lunch as the vet is opposite her building.
Bloodwork normal. 'Very healthy looking', apparently, considering his age and the fact that he's been on daily epilepsy tablets for over 6 years, so they're not overly worried about how he'll react to the anaesthetic (plus it's now more likely to be his teeth giving him gyp that an underlying complaint). Because of this, they'll be proceeding with the procedure shortly.
He's home. His teeth weren't too bad once they had a good look, so they've been deep cleaned with none removed. Bloods don't point toward anything untoward, so aside from his general self being a bit weird of late it's actually really positive news. Vet now thinks he may have just eaten something that's been taking him a while to shake.
In the car, a bit lethargic:
Home, full of beans after being carried up the stairs when he probably could've walked:
