I concocted a crackpot theory in my head that petey was a disgruntled Edge staffer who had created the forum as punishment for talk of a mass exodus, and had pulled the plug forever on some sort of anniversary, never to be seen again. It didn't help that I discovered that this was some sort of internet joke beyond my comprehension.
