generally, analytically: Most games tell the hero's journey and personal growth. A kid is by naturally underpowered/weak [against scary enemies] and as such makes telling the story of personal growth much more universal and easy
Mother/earthbound: cookies!
Little Nightmares: typical kids nightmares (grownups have scary interests)
Limbo: kids have no boundaries, i felt genuinely deceived when I encountered some other kids and they started shooting arrows at my face
(is kind of a real thing, children are ruthless against eachother)
