I wish to introduce you all to Bear, in whose company I spent the evening, alongside his humans:
It’s probably hard to get a sense of scale from the photo, but Bear is excellently named as he probably weighs almost as much as me.
He has a habit of nipping at people as they’re trying to leave, but it’s not his fault, he’s part-Rottweiler and part Border Collie and we bred those herding instincts into him for years. Aside from that, he’s a proper, big softy.
He also got very freaked out during a brief rain shower earlier, I think he was expecting thunder, and decided to hop up on the sofa and sit on my lap. He’s not allowed on the sofa usually, but this time it was okay because he is a very good boy.
Bramble's still on chicken and rice, trying to stave off this stomach investigation. Today will be the third day in a row he's not vommed, touch wood. He's not really been sick any food since the first day, it's always bile and usually first thing in the morning. It's like he's so greedy his body won't release a single grain of rice against his will.
He's doing okay, but it's pretty obvious he's not going to shake it without assistance. I'm glad the vet suggested another week without further investigation, but it's not worked out how I'd hoped. He was sick while I was at work today, but it just looked like a tablespoon of yellow rice, almost like he'd coughed it up. He's happier than he was but the waiting game is all played out now so I'll book him in for the next day his long term vet is available, see where we go next.
An x-ray without general anaesthetic would be fucking nice.
Clayton went in a river earlier and came out with black legs so he has just had a bath.
He hates towels and the hair dryer is his mortal enemy so I let him dry off using his method.
He runs backwards and forwards full speed, stopping briefly to commando crawl across the rug. This goes on and off for about 90 minutes normally.
Bramble is still plodding back to normal service. He's vomited bile twice in six days, but the colour is back in his gums and other signs the vet was quite pleased with. He's back on half normal food, half chicken and rice. It's almost at the stage where you wouldn't know there was/has been anything wrong with him from his general behaviour. Fingers crossed, it's been a long one, but we're doing the wait and see game again.
