Do you like Final Fantasy 6? How about Chronotrigger? Would you say you were a fan of 16-bit JRPGs in general?! Or any JRPG type hoo-hah, in fact? Well this game is absolutely for you. Chained Echoes is a story-driven JRPG where a group of heroes travel around the vast continent of Valandis to bring an end to the war between its three kingdoms. A world of dragons and mech-suits? Giant cats and goats?
I'm about 5 hours in and it's absolutely fantastic.
Oh, and it's on Gamepass.
So don your battle-thong, sharpen your pixel-blade, and go save the world!
Not been a rpg'er for a long time but looking at this sparks old memories of Chrono Trigger and Suikoden being rented from the video shop. Got it downloaded but yet to start.
Thanks to Christmas and free games on Epic, I've got a lot to be getting on with, and Ys X and the remake of Ys III are out next year. I love the art in this, it's just going to be a matter of whether or not I can fit it in.

I started it the other day via GamePass cloud streaming on my phone with the Kishi and it played beautifully.
Got about 30 mins in and then the kids woke up and I haven't seen it since
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
I've suddenly hit a difficulty spike after 5 hours, though I suspect I haven't been levelling up properly and my damage output isn't high enough.
Some superb quality of life stuff here. Lose a battle? You can just restart, given the option of tweaking your set-up beforehand, or return to a previous save. Saves so much wasted time. Not that I've lost any battles...
Thanks to the continued generosity of Santa (subcategory: secret), I am now in possession of this very title. It was made clear to me that this is as much a gift for me as it is Tiger. It may have to wait until I've rounded out Eastward, but I'm looking forward to it.

I've got to purple flame cave. Enjoying it. May be about to hit the difficulty spike tho lol. Have been trying to upgrade stuff but getting a bit muddled by crystal fusing, need a spirit water, and am a few materials short of other stuff. Haven't really upgraded armour and still confused about SP jazz having not had a grimoire in ages...
I think upgrading is kinda straightforward (it's kinda linear for each weapon, you just need the right stuff), it's the crystal jazz that I'm trying to figure out (levels, purity levels, base vs fuse, what combinations are allowed, what they actually do, etc). Too many angles to it!
Ghosts were absolute bastards until I clocked how they were buffing themselves against the first type of attack used against them (IIRC). Haven't played any more since beating the boss of that place.
