Glastock: Gonz wants to hang with everyone but Gav - Friday 29th

So I'm going to be in Glasgow for the first weekend of March and I figured if anyone nearby (say somewhere like Edinburgh) was up for it then we could go for a drink.
I'll be heading up on Friday the 1st and that would be the best as the Saturday I will be seeing Sigur Ros and then I plan on hiring a car on the Sunday and driving off into the highlands for a few days.
Gav is already in, so Reg, Kaz, G? Will you be around? -
Sadly I'll be in Wigan that weekend.

Train booked. Come up on the Friday and leave whenever I want because I got an open ticket. But it will be on the Wednesday at some point.
Seems I'll be hanging around Glasgow on the Sunday too as car rental places (well Avis) aren't open because nobody needs a car on Sunday do they. -
I'm working on the Saturday but if you're still kicking about, I'll come down and meet you after my shift.

I have a concert on Saturday night so it may depend on what time you finish work but I'll be around on Sunday and Friday too if you're free at any point.

Yeah, this Friday I was thinking would be best for dinner/drinks although unless I find another car rental place I'll be around on the Sunday too. The Saturday night doesn't really work as I have a concert to go to.

http://goo.gl/maps/vFfgn - This is the driving tour I was thinking of doing in Scotland. A lot of driving I know but I like driving and I'd rather see as much as I can and drive into towns later in the night than not see it.
What do the Scots think? Is there anything there that I really don't need to see? I figured the coasts would be the best bet. -

Route looks good although I can't say I know much about the east coast north of Dundee. -
Dundee to Aberdeen is a dull road unless there's something you particularly want to see. Perth to Braemar or Aviemore is more scenic. I did think that although I thought maybe there was something awesome on the non A90 road north of Dundee.

There's nothing I specifically want to see on the East coast apart from Inverness and maybe Aberdeen and St Andrews so if you have suggestions then let me know. I'll look into the parts you suggested.
Are there many roads about in the highlands areas? I'm mainly seeing the highways which I tend to ignore but they look like the only options and seem to cover the actual pretty bits anyway. -
Needs more west coast:the east is a bit drab and not as spectacular scenery. Anywhere to the west of the A82 is generally nice. Don't stop in Fort William like everyone does, it is a utter shitehole.
If it was me I'd spend more time going to maybe Applecross or Kinlochhourn. Both are quite remote but really stunning. -
