It came after a frustrating period of attempts. I was on a typically too-warm bus, and every time I was doing well as I entered the last lap, the bus driver would start driving like a prick again. Given that we left on time and there was no traffic, there was no need to brake and accelerate like he was doing.
I was about ready to mash my Vita end-on into his teeth.
55.699. Gradual improvement. Still finding that corner tough, plus the wiggle. Interesting course though. Think the overall standings will be interesting come Wednesday as I ain't getting many points this week I don't think!
Got Jon's ghost now was I'd reassuring me I'm attempting a sensible path. Seems to be a lot about minimising distance rather than maximising speed. Was even ahead after Lap 1!
I concentrated on minimising distance at first, but I think a really good run involves maintaining speed through the first part and minimising distance, which is just about possible.
The only thing that annoys me is my Vita's failure to sync times. I pretty much only have Shinji-Ikari for any of the DLC.
The other issue was that I looked at the trophies and saw how close I was to 100%, but there was one for beating friends' times 10 times by entering events through the pitwall. Now, given that I've got so many of my times about as low as I could get them, the pitwall contains finite challenges' hardly ever refreshes, and only showed events where I was ahead, I was stuck. I confess I had to do it by signing into my PS3 under my US account, setting a slow time on a DLC track, then sending the challenge to my main account. But my Vita couldn't accept the challenge, so I had to then sign back into my main account on my PS3 and go in through the pitwall there. It's a good job the trophies are cross-platform or I'd've been goosed.
Hmm, why can't I see your times? Pretty sure you're on my FL? Maybe it'll be there now, I'll have another look - have you been online (in Motorstorm terms, not just PSN terms - i.e. pressing the square button on the main screen)?
If we're on the subject of annoying things, I hate the way the select level bit flips around to become the leaderboard, so when you hit X on it you get taken to a message screen or something, rather than the stage. It's a minor gripe really, but it's not the greatest design choice in the world.
I think you must both be touching your rear pad accidentally.
@acemuzzy: Yeah, I've tried all sorts, including signing in and leaving the game running signed in doing nothing, and it only occasionally pulls in your guys times. From looking around, it's a common problem.
A lot of the time it seems to update the leaderboards of the track you have selected if you just leave it for a few seconds. But then sometimes it just doesn't, at all.
On this current track I've had my own times uploaded but none of your times, so they're still showing as 57s and 58s. But then some of the ghosts seem to be there.
I also played some other tracks yesterday and now I'm not sure if I've lost those times as well. It's a bit pointless if every time I play it's a lottery whether the times get saved or not. I wish there was a manual save option as well, just to make sure it's on the memory card at least.
Just got 51.959, which I'm chuffed and annoyed with at the same time. I was so far ahead for the first two laps, heart was pounding, still did OK for the second two but lost a second I reckon. Probably won't play it again 'cos it'll take me too long to beat that and I'll be too disheartened by my own ghost being miles ahead of me for ages.
