Yeah, that was great. Someone should stick it in the evolution/revolution thread (I dare not tread in there). It's nice to see that there are people out there with some very clever ideas, revolution is still a possibility.
On a much dumber note, I spent a few joyful hours playing Broforce this weekend. Really fun, with some fantastic animation and destruction. Boom.
I always look to indie devs for the interesting and quirky new ideas, e.g. Narbacular Drop was a DigiPen project that Gaben saw and instantly hired the team to make it into Portal.
Agreed, I didn't play ND at all because it was ugly as hell. But by the time Portal comes out, there's not much point going back to play whatever prototypes it came from - same way as I don't see much point for Minecraft fans to go back to Infiniminer, or people new to Doom to go back to Wolf 3D. The first inklings of "revolutionary" ideas often aren't particularly presentable or all that worthy beyond the novelty, many times suffering from "Techdemoitis" - it's when someone spots the gem in the rough then gives it the backing and time/money investment to polish it up into a cracking game where the hook is factored in as an integral part of the gameplay, story and everything else that you get the full potential.
It's a couple of quid on Steam. It's definitely not what it sounds like from the title.
Without going into too much detail it's a puzzle game with shooty/platformy bits. Also Ponies and Satan.
It owes a certain debt to Frog Fractions, though it's nowhere near as insane. It's a fun couple of hours, and best played knowing as little as possible. (Which is why this is one of the least informative posts ever.)
