I'm thinking of doing one of these 24 hour gaming marathons for charity this year, and I think a few of you guys have done something like this before. So what have been your experiences? Which charities did you go for? Any tips?
I'm thinking of doing 24 hours of one game, something I haven't done before but people would find interesting to watch. Maybe something like Bloodborne? Or would it be better to do it with a variety of games? I have Kinect for my One and Twitch so could stream it all.
Cheers!

Sick Kids Save Point runs in October every year. Me and Kaz have done it for the Edinburgh Sick Kids, through just giving. One year I did a variety of things, one year I did a full Yakuza 4 playthrough
I think I will get it done this year. I'm assuming it's better to do it at a time of year when others are for most publicity, like that one in October you said about.

I did indeed. One year me and Kaz started it out by playing Africa on the PS3 together

Good call on this Matty, they may be physically draining nightmares but they're a hell of a lot of fun when you get into the swing. Twitch streaming my DSII shenanigans in October was one of the highlights of my year, and I was absolutely blown away by the generosity of people supporting me through it.
If you can hold off until October Sick Kids Save Point is great fun, and with everyone squeezing it into the one weekend there's a real energy around the whole thing. Even if you're up for doing a different thing yourself their site has some great advice about health and safety.
Beyond that I'd suggest going in with an idea of what you want to do. After going all freeform in my first year I found it helped to have a goal with the two Dark Souls playthroughs I did, even if I ended up going 3 hours over to finish the first and didn't make it close to finishing the second. Probably a lot more fun for an audience if you were planning on streaming it too. I'll probably try and nail Bloodborne or DSIII this year if I think I'm up to it.
And aye, drinking helps, but if you're hitting the bottle around 9pm seriously beware how much of a comedown you'll be on by about 4am. I think I nearly stopped breathing at one point. Also make sure you don't have work or anything important for at least 48 hours after. You'll be completely unintelligible.
I've got a few I'd like to do.Yakuza Dark Souls is on the list, as is try to speedrun Mario World 96 exits, and I've threatened to do more Drunk Souls - the search for the ladder.
