The word 'topper' in the context of mattress / bedding really annoys me, strangely. I don't know why but I hate it. Topper. Urgh. It sounds wrong to my ears and the notion of a topper itself I find odd, like why are they used? Is it a hygiene thing? If it's just to make the top of the mattress more comfy, buy a comfy mattress?
I 100% know I'm on my own with this one and am not trying to persuade folks. -

I bought one of those round Turkish breads from the bakery earlier, specifically seeking out the one with the most sesame seeds on top. This was to be my dinner with a couple of basic dips, but I've just gone into the kitchen to find my girlfriend's cat has licked all the seeds off.

My old cat used to nibble a single 1cm wide line along the entire top of a loaf of bread if it was left out. So fucking annoying.

I had a cat with one eye that drank half a glass of my grandads whiskey one Christmas Day, toppled off the windowsill shortly after, threw up in the hall and then spent the next 48 hours snoozing out the period. Cats know the way.

my favourite twat cat behaviour quirk was from one we had back home who, upon seeing me typing at the keyboard, seemed to think I was just tickling empty space, and would thus slot herself snugly between my fingers and the keyboard in expectation that I would continue this typing/tickling motion on her belly. I can't help but admire that level of self-centredness

my girlfriend's cat will try and eat anything she sees us eating. she was really nagging us for some carrots we were snacking on the other. she was persistent as fuck about it. eventually we relented, broke her off a piece, she took one tiny nibble then left it alone.

Got an email tonight about a compensation payment for mis-sold payday loans. Obviously from loan companies who declared bankruptcy rather than paying out, so not expecting the full amount owed. But this is quite something.

Another unrelated annoyance; the Guardians app, which is much , much slower in loading an up to date front page than just typing the address into my browser. -

Honestly worth filing a bug report through the app (settings > help > report an issue, when it asks if you want to include diagnostic info, say yes, this just provides app version number, device details and a few other bits and pieces used for debugging). Reports like that do help the team work out where to focus optimisation work.

I really dislike the horizontal scrolling elements they've added for the app headlines in a recent update. I just don't bother looking at them now as it's so unpleasant to use. The actual implementation is also really fiddly and if you don't scroll in just the right place it does a vertical scroll instead which is super annoying.
I don't understand why anyone involved in ux would think that's a good thing to have on a phone. Just scroll vertically that's what phones are good at.

Again, send the feedback. Those aren’t in the iOS version of the app, so they may simply be being tested in Android. If enough people say that they don’t like them, they will go.

Ah now that would be the correct thing to do but honestly who has the time or motivation to send feedback for a minor annoyance on an app. I'll probably just uninstall and use the web version.
Or continue to use it and be annoyed each time. Who can say -
Web version doesn’t work for me on phone anymore, perhaps because I’m using an old model. I’m also not bothered enough to file a report. I don’t suppose ‘please make your app faster’ is an especially helpful bit of feedback anyway. The problem is that to visit the webpage I just had to type ‘gu’ in search bar and the rest was autocompleted. Then hit enter. Page loads in under a second. With the app I try to open it. 5-7 second pause while it loads up. Then it shows me whatever the news was the last time I opened he app. Then I wait another 5+ seconds for it to tell me new stories are available, which I click to view. Then I must wait another 3 seconds for them to load

Knowing which devices the app is running slow on is helpful feedback, especially when it comes to Android phones where there are far more possible configurations than we could realistically test on.
