Off to Tenerife today. 7 year old, 4 year old, 2 year old in tow.

Wish me luck, all. Can kids go in the cargo section?

    Only on Ryan Air.

  • I'm actually going to be living the dream. It's us, wife's mum (who loves having the kids and is already suggesting we go out loads without them), my parents, my brother, and my sister with her boy (4).

    So much childcare!

Yeah five of us, squeezed into a family room. It's but cheap for a week, even at Easter, but not too crazy given it includes absolutely everything (including a kids club thing, which they really enjoyed last time). We looked at the summer prices for one of the deluxe rooms, meanwhile, and that was £32k for a week pmsl off-peak deffo the way to go!

Yeah, summer prices are a little out of my budget. Seems priced for the target market. Defo going to look into Easter/October.

Have you been before? If you can get out without the kids, then a drive up to Tiede at sunset is stunning. Quad bikes optional!

Don’t quad bike unless you fancy a trip to the hospital! Lethal machines. Get in a buggy. I was in Kos and someone in our hotel did a quad bike last day he’s in the lobby with a broken arm in plaster and cuts and bruises all over.

So yes, pretty lush now we've arrived - way hotter than last year, 27° today, so lots of beach/watersports/pool stuff going on. Kids in paradise - yesterday the elder two were in a teens club witch basically involved paddle boarding and jumping off pedalos mid-ocean for three hours, while the youngest did a fashion show.

Food another highlight. Grilled shoulder of lamb last night, with some potato hash brown concoction, wild mushrooms and spinach. Was amazing. Barely had room for the al fresco breakfast this morning.

Despite starting the week skinny I think I'm gonna head home overweight. But I'll enjoy the process.

Chalice, do book restaurants/car shizzle/sunset cruise/any kids stuff you need before heading, cos (this week at least) it's a busy enough that not everything is available last minute. Fingers crossed the weather holds like this for you!

    Well jealous. Looks great.
  • It really does. Europe in general is amazing. So many beautiful countries is such a small area.

Awesome! The teens club sounds ace. Are there good food options for younger kids who might be a bit fussy (pasta etc)?

Yeah they're extremely accommodating. The pool/bar menu (https://online.pubhtml5.com/itli/zfxa/#p=11) has a bunch of stuff and all the restaurants do burger + pizza + pasta on their kids menu, as well as what that restaurant specialises in. But you kinda get the feel even if it wasn't on the menu they'd sort you out. eg ours demanding nachos with none of the toppings had been no bother.

The teens club is a bit more variable than the ones for the younger kids as there aren't as many teens (/parents) looking for entertainment for them. There's a room with a ps5 and table football available exclusively for them; beyond that it seems to depend who rocks up that day and what they fancy. More often than not the other teens are at the pool/beach/bar/doing sport it seems.

That's proper service yeah. The place we stayed at in Dassia was a step down from Ikos, but still could order a club sandwich after midnight. Love that kind of stuff. Have a great week and don't count the days!

Looks lovely mate we're flying out Monday morning! Looks like 26° on Monday but it's gonna rain Tuesday and Wednesday but can't imagine it being much. Booked the Tesla and 3 restaurants already. Anything else we should look into?

Sweet. Only other thing would be the sunset cruise (which we haven't managed to book this year cos it's full throughout our stay, and didn't know about last year!).

Hope you have a cracking time!

Oh and getting to the resort I guess! It's only 20 mins from the airport, hopefully transfer is included or easy to sort.
  • Got the cruise booked and the transfer BOOM.

    Game on!

It's our last day today, which I think is probably a good thing given the volume I've eaten (and drank) over the last week...
  • @muzzy did you have to book hotel transfers separately?? We had to get a taxi our names weren't on the list...

We booked direct with Ikos, so they sorted the transfer. I think you don't get that if you book via a tour company (as I think you did, kinda?). Hopefully that means you're nearly there anyway, hopefully you love it as much as we did/do!
  • We've arrived, had an amazing lunch at Ergon, the hotel is something special eh? They can't do enough for you. Weather is perfect currently but it's looking iffy for the rest of the week but there's so much here I don't think we're bothered. This is exactly the kind of holiday we were after when I asked on here for recommendations thank Muzz. :)

We got a taxi from the airport in the end - it was out fault we didn't check transfers but we got here before the coach load and were already having lunch when they all turned up lol. We've got dinner booked at Ouzo tonight which looked amazing when we walked past earlier. There's a piano man tinkling the ivories in the lobby bar currently. It seems quiet which is lovely and there are staff everywhere as soon as you pick a lounger by the pool they are over with watermelon and taking drink orders. I'm half pissed already. This is how you do a holiday.

    Very recommended.
  • Cracking. Enjoy yourself, Chalice.

Huzzah!  Glad you've arrived safely and are enjoying it - please don't tell too many other people tho, want it to stay fairly unknown :p

Yeah the food is top notch throughout (wait till you see the breakfast buffet in Flavours...) and you can definitely expect some vino over dinner tonight too (they were always surprised when we only had one bottle between the two of us...).

Have a great stay!  And enjoy a pedalo / kayak when you can too!
  • That does actually sound great. I'm very envious.
Wife and I are starting saving (although the car expenses this month wiped most of it out) to spend a long weekend in Sicily for our 10th anniversary next year. Just us, no kids.
The idea is to go back to the place we took our honeymoon. Really working my butt off so we can do it properly, not have to worry about costs
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
  • There is no such thing as wine by the glass here by the way. It's not even on any of the menus. I came back to the table from the toilet and was greeted by a second bottle of red on the table. We've been drinking since we got here. Lady chalice is pissed as a fart lol.

How did the hangover vs. breakfast buffet play out this morning??  And are you drunk again yet?
