In the comics, Loki sacrifices himself to save Asgard. Thor, missing his brother, brings him back as a child, with no memories of his former life. We probably won't see anything of my favourite bit of this run which is the next 2 years with Leah and Hela. 

But after that, he joins the Young Avengers. This one is Hawkeye (check), Miss America (check), Wiccan (check), Hulkling (maybe?), and Noh-Varr (nope). I really can't see them using the story from this, but I can see Kid Loki being a part of the Young Avengers that they have been very obviously building towards.

So, Loki has sacrificed his life to allow the timelines to exist, but He Who Remains still exists in these timelines, or rather his variants do. There aren't any more Loki's (bar Sylvie, but I think the point is that she was more than 'just a variant') and Loki can't leave, so the only thing he can do is have himself be reborn, and thus, Kid Loki.

Something I absolutely adore as an idea (but comes from absolutely nothing, this is just me fantasy booking), and something that would tie into them wanting to have the original actors around still is that Loki sends himself to Thor, and you have Thor trying to raise both Love and Loki, whilst also fighting against Kang. This would let you use the name, but probably none of the story of Kid Lokis final comic appearances, Asgardians of the Galaxy.
