I had a few accidental bits like that, felt good.
At the moment I am too early though, literally walking up to enemies and smashing them in their DS legs.
Started playing this yesterday and ended up putting a five hour stretch in. I'm really impressed with it so far. Had no idea what it was really.
For anyone looking for something to scratch that Destiny itch this is it. The combat is fun and weapons punchy. Endless depth and customisation. Feel like there's an astonishing amount of content here.
This could be the single most complicated game I've ever tried to play. I have installed on several occasions but never made it far. Being the fiend I am I've decided to have another go but this time with some actual research behind me. Mother of Christ, the depth in this game - the amount of things you need to know as a new player but are never explicitly told is incredible.
I'm scouring YouTube for videos at the moment but even with increasing knowledge I am not sure if I will continue on playing as this game - once you understand it I would imagine - has the potential to become ferociously addictive.
Anyone else on Xbox actively playing or interested in playing?
Baffling is an understatement. I mean I thought I would be able to absorb what was going on but nope, totally lost. A game I would no doubt have dove head first into back in my 20s, a tad intimidating now though.
I tried this a couple of years back, didn't get 2 hours in before I packed it in. I found it incomprehensible.
Thought I'd give it another go recently on PS4 and it insta-clicked, that exquisite movement and the minute-to-minute action just grabbed me. The multitude of game systems are gonna take a hell of a long time to figure out (the Warframe Wikki has become one of my most used sites), but I'm hooked and committed.
I can honestly see this eating up thousands of hours over years to come.
Funny thing is, in my younger days I was all about the immediacy of arcade goodness, shmups and run 'n' guns, something like this woulda filled me with dread.
Yeah well I've not really been gaming at all since early May, just got really really fucking fed up with it and the constant deception and let downs. Just trying out something new, I can see it's Marmite affect though.
As far as community relations go, being honest and open to the players and engaging in discourse that has very real and positive effects on the game, Digital Extremes are as good as it gets. The community absolutely loves these devs.
Aye, the game isn't for everyone, but if it does click (and you can stomach spending more time online looking up what things means and what you're supposed to be doing than you'll actually spend playing many other games) you'll have something very special in front of you.
Re-installed. They've just had tenno-thingie. Shiny new trailer is out there and a bunch of other stuff.
Systems in game are as convoluted as ever, but man, finally worked out how to enter a mission and dat sweet sweet bow action and movement is *chef's kiss*.
Loads ridic fast and I can really turn up the shinies on the new lappy.
I'm on PS4 with this and really, really wanna play on PC instead but I'll be fucked if I can repeat that kinda time and financial commitment.
And it's not the mission and star chart progress that's the issue, I'd happily do all that again, it's the 20 odd Warframes plus 4 Prime Warframes all tied to my PS4 account that mean I ain't going anywhere 'til they introduced cross-save.
I'm so early days. 10 hours, no companion or much else. Will throw cash their way soon I reckon, just because it's so solid.
I think the addition of more consoles has meant that even since I last played (3 years ago, it seems) the aim assist and feel with controller is 1000 times better. I freakin love the physics on that Bow. I love the ethos behind it too. Charged shot will send enemy in straight line FOREVER until it hits a wall, regardless if this will lead to some ridiculous moments. Bless, they aim for the fences.
Even wall jumping, the camera shite you need to do to get it to work is weird, but it's in there. So clever.
It really is top tier third-person combat and movement. And yeah, they did a load of work on controller usability last year and it feels better than ever to play right now. They're also constantly reworking other older aspects of the game, from adding new enemy types, to revamping areas, to new lighting.
Here's the Heart of Deimos gameplay reveal from last night. Rebecca takes things slowly for the first few mins so you can see what's going on, but the action ramps up from about 12 mins in.
Highlights include;
Open world reveal at 6:40
Combat with new Infested enemy types at 12:10
Rideable bugs at 14:35
Mother at 18:00
Drive-by bugs at 26:50
New Necramech enemy at 30:15
Shit kicks off and pilotable Necramech from 31:30 to finish

I'm 40-50 hours in and still consider myself an absolute beginner! And I chucked a bunch of money at 'em too, DE absolutely deserve it. I would say to wait 'til you get a discount on Platinum, the premium currency, in your daily log-in rewards though. If you decide to spend the equivalent of another game on Plat and get it with 75% off you'll be good for all the Warframes, weapons, upgrades, components, etc you'll need for a long time to come.
It should all help lessen the grind and let you play the way you want.
