Hasley album has some proper amazing stuff. It's really good, as mentioned, with a number of tracks that are better than that.
Also, I don't know if it's for a film but The bullits came up in my recs and they have one full length album with a bunch of awesome guests. Yaasiin bey, tori Amos and a few actors doing spoken word bits (is it from a film, I don't know?) Anyhoo. Real good.
Donda then. Too long and fucking boring. He's never going to top Yeezus musically, but at least the spectacle of this release gave people summat to tweet about.
In one sense it's nice that a single someone with an uhh Artistic temperament has the sheer resources to execute on their whims basically without censure, but this very situation ends up feeling fairly dystopian. There are way better minds out their who could use a fraction of that to do a lot more.
Carnival may be cancelled, but the samba reggae band whose gig I’m at apparently had other ideas. I’m amazed that the police didn’t stop us, but they didn’t.
1) Yeezus is incredible.
2) I'm not giving the man any more plays following all this shit, especially having people like Manson on the record considering all the sexual abuse. And also having Da Baby, following all the homophobic aids stuff he spouted. I was done after the Trump, black people want to be slaves stuff last time.
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts...
Camp yeesus is great here. I rated earlier stuff too.
I gave most of it a listen last night.
It is an absolute mess as an album. And it's probably for the best that he mostly spends his versus using heavy effects so I don't know what he's saying, but the beat making is still in there.
New Drake is out. Certified Lover Boy is the title which is just about as perfect a Drake title as you could imagine.
I'm 11 tracks in (21 total) and so far enjoying it a lot, but then it's the side of Drake which I prefer: him in his feelings about friendships, women, life rapping/singing over low key beats and samples.
Not going to change anyone's mind about him at this point I don't think, but feels more solid than Scorpio did (which I don't really rate).
