Zappa
Emmanuel
SRV
Brett Garsed?
Jeff Beck
Joe Satriani?
Rory Gallagher
Gilmour
I pick some based on personal preference btw, I think you can't argue Iommi is more influential than Emmanuel, but I just really like him, he seems really genuine and warm in his patter with crowds and his youtube videos. I watch this cover of Purple Haze reasonably often:
Although do you really mean the question mark after Satriani?
Garsed is of the satriani/vai/malmsteen ilk. Played lead for John farnham when he was basically the moat popular singer here. The dad energy is strong in the selection. But he can fucking shread.
It's a pity Jeff Beck never really got it together with a decent band line up since the 70s. There are very few that can wrangle such expression out of a guitar.
Zappa was about the only guitarist happy to delegate guitar duties out to others. Top notch player in his own right but maybe the least of his skills compared to composing and arranging.
