Took my sector watch to timpsons for a new battery today. 30 fucking quid!!! Nearly fainted.

Is that the proper water seal version? I used to pay £70 many many years ago before I switched to auto.

Honestly not sure, I've had the thing for about 15 years, can't remember how much it cost last time. Don't want to wear my bulova at work, the sector is a little tougher.
  • Speaking of Bulova im very close to pulling the trigger on a Mil-Ships-W-2181. Lovely retro dive watch with a really thin fabric strap. Its an odd but interesting looker.

Based on a US navy prototype from 1957

This is the cheaper standard run miyota auto movement version, there was a posher ltd ed sapphire crystal selita automatic version that dropped at over £1300 that had a full lumed bezel too rather than just the pip.

IF you can find one of the Miyota versions , and its a big if, you're looking at about £600

  • Bulova also have the honour of being the 2nd watch in space/ on the moon with their version of the nasa specced moon watch. It will cost you £499 as appose to omegas £6000

    The moon pilot.

A very accurate high frequency quartz chronograph

  • Tudor have updated its Blackbay range with the in-house movement found in the Blackbay silver and gold only currently. New dial colours etc, all sunburst dials and rolex jubilee style bracelets on stainless steel. No more off the shelf ETA movements and a far longer power reserve as a result.

However its the similarly movement updated Tudor royal thats caught my eye. Available in a fetching chocolate brown or salmon pink dial variety, its the salmon that's floating my boat.

    I say:

  • I got a bulova maquina for my 40th in October, I love it. Could put it in a sock and bludgeon someone to death with it! Don't have a pic, but here's a link:

    https://uk.bulova.com/maquina-98a179.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwz6ShBhCMARIsAH9A0qXHAOhTtlaJvnl0SlhvnRVZfpo2Yrhd9JL94OJrrtvgRqL9YjWx0dkaAs9lEALw_wcB

Only complaint is I'm a bit skinny just now, so it falls down on my wrist. But taking out another link would make it too tight, anyone got an alternative idea?

  • Thats the problem with integrated straps. Is there any pin adjustment in the double press clasp?

I got batteries for two watches and a strap for one of them for £18 here in Taiwan, and the Google Maps reviews said the place was pricey. Then again minimum wage is under a fiver.

  • GShock are continuing the retro mod style relaunch of frogman variants for its 30th anniversary. This is essentially the same as the titanium chassis black and gold variant ltd edition i already own, bar a few detail tweaks and obvious colour change. It has has a new red tinted lcd.

Uses the same biomas plastic for the outer case and strap.

This is also a limited edition.

This means i have to buy it. Ffs

  • only half a ton though
  • ha ha its an acquired taste, but is basically a reissue of a classic from 2000

  • If the trend of reissuing old frogman designs and colours continues this year, we are likely to see both navy blue and bright yellow variants too

I should really wear it more but it needs a service on the crown seals

  • Oris has launched an update to it's absolutely bonkers Propilot altimeter.

It is now a 47mm 3d printed carbon fibre case. It is also a shit load more expensive than the old stainless steel variant. At £5250 its twice the price. But phwoar. Useless unless you paraglide, but phwoar.

  • King Seiko have launched a lovely ltd edition called the
Kameido Kikko. As is common with Seiko, admittedly high end Seiko mostly, the dial detail is stunning, and is meant to invoke a turtles shell pattern. Nice to see some Grand Seiko style hands and dial work at this price point too.

Comes with a 2nd strap, a nice leather item with a folding metal clasp deployment.
