Watched this via stream last night and I realise why I no longer watch this stuff near as much as I used to. Its not the wrestling or the characters - both have seen better days but are generally decent enough with some really good matches (tag opener, first MITB) and promos (Ambrose).
But in general the whole presentation is so stale and the commentators in particular add nothing to the product. Compared to Jessie/ Gorilla or Ross/ Lawler, its a shame. And the re-use of promo packs was pretty ridiculous for a PPV.
And I also got a feeling that the company is quite prepared to simply put shit out whether it thinks it is entertaining or not. That second womans match was terrible. Two Heels, not over with a Heel ref? I'd love to know who pitched that, or actually who green lit it and thought that was anyway interesting to anyone. Similar to the Sandow/ Rose match. Poor Sandow. Last time I watched he looked a big deal. Now he seems a sub-genius gimmick.
Lawler appears to still be there on the basis that he's always been there. He's done nothing of use in years. JBL was great, but has now passed his shelf life in my view. Michael Cole is treading water.
The best commentators they have are William Regal, Alex Riley and Scott Stanford. Stanford in particular is excellent. Naturally, all are only used on the fringes.
Re: the womens match, Layla was supposed to be the face, as the wronged party in the situation. Not that anyone gave a shit about any of it.
Layla wasn't the face....she was still aligned with Fandango. Also, Riley is awful. The best commentary team they can go for is Cole, Christian and Renee Young IMO, Regal doesn't want the gig for some reason. Renee is excellent at everything she does.
Layla was still with Fandango, but the face in that situation. Go back and watch the June 20th Raw. Layla was the wronged party. Her reaction might as well have been Zack Ryder.
Renee Young is the best hire they've made in years.
