We need to talk about FINAL FANTASY® CRYSTAL CHRONICLES™ Remastered Edition for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, the remastered version of FINAL FANTASY® CRYSTAL CHRONICLES™ for the Nintendo GameCube.
FINAL FANTASY® CRYSTAL CHRONICLES™ is an adventure RPG about a group of young adventurers who band together to go on an epic journey in search of myrrh, a substance that cleanses and purifies the crystal that holds a deadly world-enveloping gas known as 'miasma' at bay.
The original was heavily based around cooperative multiplayer, to the extent that the experience was severely compromised in singleplayer. Yet obviously at the time the multiplayer experience was cumbersome, involving a ton of wires 'n' stuff and requiring all players to be physically present.
Like many people, I missed out on the opportunity to truly enjoy the game at the time. Now the Remastered Edition, with its online multiplayer functionality, presents a second chance to enjoy this game as it was intended: in co-operative multiplayer. But it's not clear whether the remaster will offer cross-play - it seems unlikely - and it looks like, if we were to have a go at this as a forum, we would need to engage in some co-ordination before the game comes out this winter.
So I guess my questions are whether anyone on here would be up for this in multiplayer when it comes out and, if there's no cross-play, on what format?

As an attempt at a single screen multiplayer RPG, it's damn good.
There's lots of different playstyles, and it's not too difficult.
If they released the original without the need for online play, and removed the chalice/bucket/bubble generator, it wouldn't work because you'd be able to cheese through the levels by all splitting up.
Maybe if this performs well, we'll get a Crystal Chronicles game designed from the ground up, with free roam in mind.
This has been delayed to Summer 2020 while they improve performance across all the formats. They already announced cross-play but it's now clear it's total cross-play and cross-save across PS4, Switch, iOS and Android, so you don't need to choose between best technical performance and best portability if you're happy to fork out twice.

Anyone getting this when it comes out on 27 August? If one person gets the full game (and I will be getting the full game) they can invite a full party using just the free demo version to play 13 dungeons (presumably a big chunk of the game?) and with cross-play. So looks like they are making it quite easy to do multiplayer - would be nice to get something going on here.
