I'm currently working my way through the Uranus missions to unlock The Second Dream story quest. So hyped to finally play that most holy of Warframe content.
I'm enjoying the Grineer Sealab tilesets here, some cool and tricksy mechanics to watch out for, and swooshing through the flooded sections in my Arcwing while fighting tough Grineer Marines ain't getting old.
The "Complete 5 mission with no primary or secondary weapon equipped" requirement for the next junction is pretty cool. I'm digging the melee weapons, stances, and various Warframe/melee synergies right now, and this is like a lil gift from DE just for me.
Also, I got a few pieces for a Deathcube Prime companion from some relics so I thought I'd finish it off by trading for the last piece and damn, this thing is a beast. I mean, I'll never love it like my Kubrow, Buttercup, but it's a better pick for this deep into the star chart. It's close-range attack is particularly savage.
Anyone managing to get the better of the Stalker during your encounters? He's hunted me down a couple of times now and absolutely rekt me both times. I think I got one-shot in the second encounter.
He's a fucker. When you kill bosses you'll notice a "Your actions have consequences..." message in your inbox and you'll be marked for death (check on Show Profile to see if you're marked). The Stalker can come for you at any time, you'll get audiovisual cues and a text pop-up and then he'll be on you. Unfortunately both times he's come for me I've been using levelling equipment on low-level runs.
He drops some good stuff if you can beat him though, including Dread, the best bow in the game.
Just finished The Second Dream and holy shit, I get why the game's first cinematic story quest is so loved. 120+ hours in and I'm thinking about the game in a whole new way. If this is representative of the narrative quality of the game still to come, then I'm very, very happy.
I would add; pease don't research The Second Dream or any and of Warframe's story if you can help it. Spoilers can not be avoided.
Edit: but srsly 120+ hours before I hit the first cinematic story quest lol. Never change, you beautiful mess of a game.
When a mission says it has open squads, how do I join the open squad?
Trying out Ivara, seems cool. Invis is lol fun. Not sure what second ability does yet. Even looking at abilities screen. First ability seems to give me arrow types, with the Artemis bow, but I don't know if I need a bow equipped or not, because it just keeps telling me I don't have bow type.
For open squads, as far as I know it'll just matchmake you into one if there's still space. There does seem to be some kind of update delay though, as people are often complaining about being loaded solo when the game was showing open squads available.
With Ivara, you should be able to cast those arrows at will for an energy cost. Once you've unlocked her fourth ability (the Artemis bow) you can use that to cast your arrows at no extra energy cost. I think.
And yeah, never rush anything. The timegating of crafting is the thing that irritates me most about this game. It needs to go.
For The Second Dream you need to have Uranus: Neptune Junction unlocked, plus you need to have completed the story quest that leads into it.
Honestly, I can't stop thinking about it. It's not ground breaking in any way - it just added the kind of cinematic story quest to Warframe that other games take for granted, but the storyline and that reveal... Fuck. If by some miracle you manage to get that far without it being spoiled you're in for something pretty cool.
Sorry you're not getting on with her, Face. Looking into it she might be a bit situational in that she bosses spy missions but isn't really picked for much else, unless you just enjoy the stealth game, in which case she's ideal. You really need that Artemis bow unlocked though, that and invis are her bread and butter.
Anyhoo, here's iFlynn with his usual rambling but informative vid.
Actually, I've had a couple of spy missions lately which require all 3 objectives completed - and I bloody well hate these missions! Ivara would have been a godsend.
For some brief info on more frames to look at - here's min/max legend, KnightmareFrame.
Edit: Good to see the rhythm action AoE utility queen, Octavia, at number 2. My go-to for so many of the tougher activities (when I'm not playing Saryn).
I'm sure I'll suss her, and yeah, spy missions can be a pain. (although they're all learnable, so it's more a case of finding the routes and remembering them for each area.)
Bow is now unlocked, it's still a bit of a mystery though.
A new Infested themed open-world area, a new Warframe, new weapons, a new NPC faction to gain standing with, a new enemy race, new Infested enemy types, craftable mechs, and all the usual Warframe open-world trappings; fishing, mining, wildlife conservation, etc. You access it all from Mars, so not too much work needed to open it up. Oh, and there's also a revamped new player experience accessible to everyone from the Codex.
Haha! The sheer scale and complexity of this game is truly daunting.
I'm close to unlocking the full star chart, just three more planets! I'll be doing the next few story quests while I'm doing that, then I'm gonna go back to Fortuna for a bit (I'm finally comfortable with the Plains of Eidolon), then Deimos.
That's the plan.
I'll sure the 6000 other things I'm supposed to be doing will get done at some point.
