I'm either immune to synesthesia or my terrible Tetris skills kept me out of the zone. I really am shockingly bad at block puzzle games. Wife loved it but asked me not to buy in case she suffers a repeat of the month of Bejeweled.
They do count as score but they don't count as lines I think. As each stage has a fixed number of lines to be cleared I think the trick to getting a high score is setting up a situation to clear as many lines as possible while in the zone.
I think the zone would be useful in multiplayer too when shit starts hitting the fan and you need some time to think.
Yeah but then I have to agree with Edge when they said something along the lines of Tetris in VR being quite underwhelming. Stationary posture and your eyes planted firmly forwards is not utilising the medium's strengths. Kinda like sitting in a dark room really?

It does utilise some of VRs strengths - sensory deprivation and guaranteed headphones. The former really helps with concentration and getting into the zone and trippy space which is entirely the philosophy of this version of tetris.
Today is the anniversary of the original release of Tetris, and you’re supposed to be able to unlock a version of the original if you play the game today, although I’ve just tried it and had no luck.
