Anyone? Â Looks like my kind of thing but I've never played an MMO. Â However, the trial's 12 minutes away from downloading and I fancy giving it a shot.
Will I hate it? Â Will it consume my entire life and all my money?
This game does indeed look awesome, in my head I imagine an adaptation of "DIE IN SPACE" but in reality the whole "spreadsheets in space" is much closer to the truth.
So I'm out.
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
Skerret's posting is ok to trip balls to and read just to experience the ambience but don't expect any content. "I'm jealous of sucking major dick!"~ Kernowgaz
Spreadsheets in space is fairly accurate, but it can be fun. I played for about a year a few years ago and remember the learning curve for beginners being pretty steep. I'd suggest playing with a friend who can show you the ropes or finding some tutorials after you do the game tutorial.
I've tried the 2 week tutorial various times and was a paying subscriber for about 6 months. Trying to get into it now would be a Herculean task. It is hugely complicated and vast in a way that is hard to imagine. There is no hand holding and getting through "training" missions will take you probably 3 months. It's quite frustrating because you can tell that under the complexity there is a game which is what an mmo is supposed to be. You may spend a long long time digging to try and get to it though.
I've been told by numerous people, numerous times that if you don't actually know people irl who play the game it's nigh impossible to get into. Not so much due to the game mechanics but the politics and social side will chew you up and spit you out like most real life government bodies do. Which is also a testament to how deep the game is and how much player freedom it allows.
It certainly is a beautiful game to look at. Main reason I initially tried to get into it a few years back.
