Death Stranding.

Dark Soldier wrote:My personal take on it is this has many parallels to the last of us, primarily the blocking off of areas by some arbitrary thing (in TLoU for example, finding a ladder or a bit of wood) coupled with the stretches of just being in the world so as dialogue and a bond can be formed between the two central characters.
The crux for me is, the actual gameplay and sense of immersion in TLoU bored me to tears. I've long come to accept I'm a Yoss and gameplay is front and centre for me ahead of anything else. The gameplay in this is crunching, visceral and raw. You can feel the heft of Kratos, the ease with which he does some actions which would cause another conscious to baulk. With TLoU it was a world I've seen in countless other films or books, and aimed primarily as a narrative with some gameplay chucked in. Basically GoW is a game with a story attached, TLoU is a story with gameplay attached.
Sure GoW has its equivalent of TLoU)Uncharted's walk into an area with countless waist high walls dotted around, but with GoW you see those areas (health/pots)more.ooen spaces) and you actually get excited.
It's a wonderful, beautiful world matched with wonderful, satisfying combat and gameplay. You often get one but not the other, it's very rare you get both at once.
Genuinely love the shit out of this game.
