For me they can split after definitely maybe and leave one perfect album and maybe a handful of b sides and never sully their memory with the later shit
The Indelicates released a single called Cold War Bop a few months ago. I thought it was alright. Added it to my Indelicates playlist, and to my main one for driving, and thought no more about it.
But fast forward to now and it’s really wormed its way into my brain. I keep hitting repeat when it pops up on a playlist. I’m starting to think it might a piece of understated greatness.
The video’s a bit heavy-handed, but the song works. Both as a pop anthem in its own right and as a pastiche of the late ’80s with a genuine sense of loss buried inside it.
There’s something about how it starts off detached and ends up sincere. Mirroring the listener’s experience. It begins as an indie tune with an arched eyebrow and leans into the full Springsteen by the end.
It sounds like Bill Fay, which is a very very good thing. I've replayed it several times and I'm in awe of it. It's beautiful. The best thing he's done since his Mcalmont days.

Tomorrow is old man new Pearl Jam day and I'm enjoying revisiting the ancient stuff before the realisation that the the new one is depressingly mediocre inevitably sets in.
-5 points for the first person to attribute 'depressingly mediocre' to the band in general, -15 for suggesting even that's a stretch. LET ME HAVE MY WEIRD HYPE.
I don't think it has a proper standout track (which even their worst albums do imo) but agree that it's a good album. Listened to it plenty since Friday, happy with it.
