We watched some amateur films in film studies, and one was called Nine Dalmuir West, and it was about the last of the Glasgow trams (G.Man holla) and there was a montage set to this, a song released the year the trams died:

I don't listen to exclusively old music but there is something about the sound of the era that keeps bringing me back. In the last 5 years this had lead me to tunes from all over the world trying to find different takes on a similar sound.
I'll get into that another time but right now i'm on a soul tip:

+ for Elmore tho, that's what I hope is playing everytime I walk into a blues bar, which these days are sadly sans eye-level smoke.

Thafe. Was just joshing in my usual cuntish way, what with me being a cunt and everything. I do get genuinely pissed that a few of my favourite huddie tunes aren't on YouTube in my fave versions, notably where did you sleep last night, of which he has a great version on grooveshark that's nowhere to be seen on the toobs.
Yeah, the early stuff is great. I just think that if you listen to the fantastic blues songs from just prior to Elvis, it's much harder to be impressed by him.
