Preach.
I have nfi.
@gonz you know I'm sympathetic to the argument that the US are meddling assholes, but I'd like sources on election rigging. Or not, rather.

With Venezuela, I've no doubt it's a combo of external meddling and internal incompetence/corruption that's led to the economy tanking, and Maduro is certainly a fuck up, but it's not that hard to believe he still has enough support to hang on given the social programmes that have been introduced since Chavez and given state of the opposition, who are so obviously just waiting to sell off the country. it may be that a lot of people don't want Maduro anymore, but perhaps they don't want the extreme alternative either.
So this whole thing about recognising a self-declared leader is obviously bullshit. The US will always do it when it's a 'free market' friendly or right-wing coup of an even vaguely progressive government. Shit loads of people are also leaving Honduras, because it's experiencing massive crime and economic problems. And that's a situation in which a right-wing coup overthrew the government and the US (under Obama) instanty recognised its legitimacy.

What would he actually do? What are his policies? There seems to be no coverage at all of why this person might be able to unite the country.
I'm going to guess one of his policies is economic liberalisation. Especially for the country with the largest oil reserves in the world. Just a wild fucking guess!
