Karma is probably the most misunderstood part.
What most people think of karma is that you do something good and you get something good back. For example, you help an old lady cross the road and you magically win the lottery.
The Buddhist teaching of karma is that a good deed is it's own reward. You help the old lady cross the road, you feel happy knowing you did good and your life is richer because of it. This then goes on to karma in society where if everyone performs selfless good deeds then people will inevitably perform them for you as well.
It annoys me a bit that it has been adopted as a negative more often than not. People talk about being wronged and saying "it's OK karma will catch up to them". Karma is only negative if the person in the wrong knows, acknowledges and actually cares that they were in the wrong.
