Hah those tweets are bang on. Im sure most people are like your wife and not aware of their surroundingsThe Daddy wrote:Heh, yes people are shit: https://twitter.com/livsfoster/status/1348250134656786432?s=21 Thing is, for a lot of people I think they’re just not that aware of their surroundings. Sometimes when I’m walking hand-in-hand with wife (a rarity these days tbf), I’ll detach and slow down to drop to single file, and she’ll slow down to match my pace. So I need to speed up and go in front. She’s just not switched on to stuff like that. I blame the parents.

Its all about mass and paths of least resistance. Its more difficult to move a bigger mass.
Well I had thought this sort of thing was common manners.Yossarian wrote:The single person moves but someone in the group also moves and somehow a group is considered a single mass despite being made up of individuals. Wut? And did I miss a day in school when we were all supposed to learn this hierarchy of pedestrianism? If a person walking by themselves is met by a bigger group coming towards them( on the same side) I usually find the person on their own moves to allow the group pass, normally the person at the edge of the group/couple slows to allow space for the single person space to pass. I think everyone is arguing the same thing and in agreement?
Ninjas wording here made it sound like the single person needed to get their butt out the way so the couple could carry on holding hands rather than them going to single file. I'm assuming that wasn't the case?
This is the way. Go on the road or whatever just to get round quicker.GurtTractor wrote:I walk at like mach 10 so I just go around everybody.

Problem is as I first brought up, groups are MASSIVELY reluctant to move. Or should I say, individuals within the groups are really reluctant to. Even for oncoming "higher level" pedestrians such as old folk etc.Diluted Dante wrote:You don't need two people to move. You need one to go behind the other, then everyone is still on the path.
Hence your username?Kow wrote:If three people abreast on the footpath make no signs of making room, I'll happily barge through them. I'm a lot bigger than your average Spaniard, though, so they'll generally make way.
