Was just catching up, but i think you misunderstood a bit where the advantage for Vettel was. It isn't that pitting under the VSC is quicker than staying out, you still lose time compared to those on track. But when hammo pitted under normal racing, he was restricted to pit lane speeds, Vettel was going flat out, so Vettel is able to lap say 20 seconds quicker. But when vettel pits under VSC, he has the same pit lane speed limits that Lewis did, but Lewis isn't allowed to go as fast out on the track as Vettel did, and so he only does his lap about 13 seconds quicker than Vet. It's that time difference that allowed Vettel to be ahead after his stop (and Mercedes miscalculated exactly what the difference would be otherwise Lewis would have tried to pull a bigger gap before his stop).jdanielp wrote:@Dino hmm, maybe it's more a clarifcation of what exactly the pit-in and pit-exit constitute. Are they parts of the track or parts of the pit lane? If they are parts of the track, then VSC speeds should be adhered to while traveling along them. If they are parts of the pit lane, then the pit lane speed limit should be adhered to.
