That’s the problem these days some my Twats in digital marketing think this will engage with the fans somehow fail to realise we’ll expect fh5 and announce some daft shit as a big thing. Throbbing tools
GT: WEBBIN5 - A life in formats: Sinclair ZX81>Amstrad CPC 6128>Amiga 500>Sega Megadrive>PC>PlayStation 2>Xbox>DS Lite>Xbox 360>Xbox One>Xbox One X>Xbox Series X>Oculus Quest 2
The Super Seven thing’s okay, I guess. The quality of the challenges is pretty low right now but should improve as players get to grips with the tools.
I found loads of challenge cards deliberately created to get ‘easy influence’ or to get specific achievements (eg. Complete a challenge in a Hoonigan car). Not really the point, but I can see why people are doing it.
I haven't had a look at this yet but giving the community the keys to the toy box is going to yield results before long. Look at how much time people are willing to spend designing car skins.
I had one that was a long, complicated maze made out of trucks that took me ten minutes to complete in a ridiculously overpowered and barely-controllable Peel P50 which reached the end leaving me about 30 feet clear to try and reach 45MPH. I failed.
If you see that one, I strongly suggest quitting out.
First challenge on my slate was in Russian, and I think called ‘A potato’. It involved trying to hit 50mph in a classic Cinquecento. Not the worst, by a long shot.
I think the easy events being popular will scupper curation efforts. I found it mildly diverting, but doubt I'd bother with it again. There's a lot of loading involved for not much reward, it probably works better on a Series X/S. Just driving about doing speed traps and danger signs seems like more fun.
It’s 100% designed for the S/X consoles. Because it allows the creator to specify car, livery, and also season - that’s a lot of loading time on my BoneX for challenges that often last less than a minute. Just loading a new season each time takes ages.
More track creation options feel like a no-brainer. Give your players a map, a way to lay roads, barriers and obstacles and let them create content for you.
