I know it's shite, I know it's ripped from so many other sources, I know it's utterly derivative, but I've found such great solace in Britpop mixes over the past week. Unsure if it's the memory of hearing Common People and being 8 and not getting it at the time or whatever but it's making me happy
I do like a bit of britpop nostalgia. Never could stand Oasis, and I developed a taste for Blur in later life … at the time I was into more alternative stuff: PWEI, Senser, Blaggers ITA, Compulsion, Bis, etc. But looking back … second-tier britpop is the good shit. Hits all my nostalgia glands and transports me right back to smoke-filled northern nightclubs and fumbled dancefloor snogs. Love it.
Manda’s ace. I get to hang out with all those guys nowadays. Sci-Fi Steven is landlord of one of my local pubs and their drummer’s going out with one of my ex-girlfriends. Small world, an’ all that.

Took a detour from my soul patch today and decided that Chas & Dave have a remarkable amount of truly great songs. Ain't no Pleasing You is a stone cold classic.
