What a boss OP. The kind of OP which, in Metroid boss form, would actually be the reason I don't finish the game. So kinda bad in game form, but nice af in forum form
Well, fear not. In honour of the impending release of METROID FUCKING 5 MOTHER FUCKING DREAD YAS I have decided to do a full playthrough of the mainline and numbered (ie. non-prime and non stuff like Federation force / other M) entries.
Started Zero Mission today and was surprised how many of the skips I remembered. A couple of hours in and I got 3 tanks, 75 missiles and yer boi Kraid is dead.
Zero Mission, in retrospect, is a weird one. I get them wanting to fix the original Metroids complete lack of direction, but it can be overly handholdy without sequence breaks. And, as nice as it is to skip from area to area, enemy variety is lacking compared to many 2D and 3D entries.
The new bosses are a nice addition but, again, they’re not super memorable. The best so far being a fight with a work over a lava pool, forcing you to constantly bait attacks and switch sides.
Overall it’s a fun Metroid, albeit one that doesn’t have the same atmosphere as the original (or other entries) even if it is easier to play and less frustrating.
Will update as I make my way to (and past) the big Don - Ridley.
I have those on DS but no idea where they are. Never finished fusion, or maybe zero, after getting stuck. Was a good game though, first Metroid - and better than the 3D ones
I'm considering this now. It looks wrong to me, but I can handle that. Early reports are pretty positive. Which doesn't mean all that much as it's tough to get a reading on a game like this based on 1-2hrs of play, or whatever the demo pods allowed for the previews. Anyone swaying on the fence?
