SO - do you guys actually play games with these?
This is a thing I know nothing about - when I first looked at this thread I was expecting to see some "trad" board game talk - either about older stuff or the newer games that seem to come from Europe ,particularly Germany.
This whole figure painting thing is simply beyond me - I find it hard to keep to the edges when doing the skirting board.Holding the wrong end of the stick since 2009. -
Everything I posted on the last day was from a 2 day 10 person event. It's not really boardgaming, it's wargaming.
Boardgames are massive now, the newer games coming from Germany is a bit old hat now too. Essen is still the core boardgaming event, but the Eurogame/Ameritrash wall has kind of been blown apart and most companies are getting better at marrying theme and rules.
I still like boardgames, and folk like Frantic still play a lot, I just get to paint more than I get to play. -

Need to get my board painted up for Gaslands but can't decide whether to do a wasteland or arena.
Boards are from shelves at work, exactly 4ft X 4ft!! -
Because I got rejected from the GW job and I was already at WHW and they were doing a "buy one get one free" for dreadnought arms..." and the shipping (which is usually 10-15% of the total cost on top - it's an absurd shipping system) I got myself a Leviathan Siege dread, and painted it... today!

@Frantic, haha, the *arms* were BOGOF - £13 per arm, £47 for the body. Forgeworld ain't cheap. With shipping that would usually be £80. Even with the free arm it took me ages to decide, but I had my credit card so I made a dumb decision. It's kinda mad as the new Primaris Dread is £30 cheaper but bigger, plastic is a hell of a material.
@Tigro, like Rouj says, thin cork sheet torn to shape, a paintbrush tube for the pipe, paperclips for the rebar effect! -
@Sub The game is based around Hot Wheels/Matchbox. There are guidelines for using a bigger or smaller scale though.
Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars are made to fit the packaging but aside from the odd exception they're all around the same scale. -

I'd seen people use wire wool for smoke before but I added the flames. I bought the stuff to make some bigger glowing ones from electronic tealights and cotton wool but haven't got round to doing them yet.

It's so cheap to get into. You just need to make stickers for dice, print out the templates and buy some Hot Wheels for a few quid a pop. If that.

What's Gaslands all about? One of my favourite mid-90s GW games was Dark Future, I reckon if there's any comparison I might be keen on trying that. -
It's basically Dark Future, but modernised.

I've been using Halfords Matt Black spray instead of GW spray. Everyone at club uses it apparently.
Half the price for 100ml more and I cannot tell the difference whatsoever.

Picked up the spray I needed for Rouj's Raptors because I am determined to use my free time this month constructively, and also picked up the £6 box of 4 eldar guardians, pre-empting a potential new job/army situation
