Just looking at the windows app and they want a shocking amount of permissions - to all email addresses, the camera, access to all files including documents and photos, automatically runs as administrator, access microphone, calendar, task list in outlook and loads more. I haven't compared it to other apps but it seems like a lot of permissions.
This is good news Face, I've got a Bluesound Node 2 speaker and have been disappointed by the sound through Spotify and have been umming and ahhring whether to go with Tidal or not. Tried Deezer a while a go but was underwhelmed by the sound difference (wasn't lossless if I remember) so I'm going to do the free Tidal trial and see whether it's just that I'm just disappointed by my speaker!
Face! That's a lovely gesture but no need. I've signed up to 5 months family hifi for £5 to trial it out. Just tried to put it on and my wife's kicking off that we don't need music on at the moment so I'll have to report back when I get some time to myself!!
To confirm I should be downloading / listening master over hifi yes?
My guess would be anything like this would be wasted on TV speakers mugs. I'm not convinced it'll sound much better straight out of most devices tbh, (even with whopping headphones) as it depends what drives the headphones, but I'm looking forward to checking it out and hopefully being proved wrong. Audio chain only as strong as it's weakest link etc. @Skerret?
I did side by sides of google play and tidal and it's clear through headphones that there's a difference.
Was playing stuff through a Bluetooth speaker while working in the back yard and obviously it's shoulder shrug.
Weirdly it has moments where it won't auto play master albums on master and will switch them to Hifi. (I think the trick is to set your defaults to master and then it just goes to highest setting)
I say that becsuse I'll be fucked if I could honestly tell between Hifi and master settings.
Tested tobe nwigwe live through my speakers and that was Defintely better too (than Google). That was just Hifi s settings.
(tidal has four settings. Normal, high, Hifi and master.)
Tbh, what it's best with is allowing stuff with a bit of dynamic range to shine.
Its not so much detail as good seperation and allowing things to do what theyre meant to.
Dirty loops wasn't as noticeable in improvement because their first has a touch of the loudness wars about it.
In the air tonight side by side. Defo better on tidal.
You can hear all the instruments on google, if you're listening closely on headphones, but it's just because it's kinda loud. Everything is flat. All the little piano and guitar runs during intro that are background are quieter on tidal, but you can hear more detail there.
(Not side by side, but same thing with god only knows last night. There's a bunch of percussion I didn't know was ever there.)
