Fitst two Sturgills turned up today on vinyl. Yep, there's something about putting a proper record on, even it is currently being pumped through two tin cans.
Just in an attempt to stop this becoming the Sturgill thread, have a couple from Two Cow Garage, also Micah is in the UK at the minute with his missus playing a few shows in London as Vanessa's art is on display somewhere. Seems I missed him in New Cross last night, but there's free show at Magic Garden, Battersea Sunday night
Don't know if you guys use the Discover Weekly on Spotify, but mine tends to be packed with country flavour stuff these days, and I do enjoy hearing a gem or two a week I hadn't heard of. This week's pick so far:
Do any of you still deal in cds as a storage medium? Sailor's Guide vinyl came with a slipcase copy of the album in the archaic 80s format previously backed by forward thinkers such as Knopfler & co. Can post for free if anyone wants.
Two Car Garage tracks are decent. I've got an album somewhere (Bastards and Barstools, maybe) but I can't remember how I found them. And I might be confusing them with Two Gallants. Might've been some sort of Last FM 'similar artists to The Hold Steady' search. They're much heavier in my head. Will revisit.
Mojo has landed at work. 4 stars (from a possible 5) for Sound & Fury.
'...the album's schizoid ruse is neatly summed up by Make Art Not Friends, which makes its wondrous metamorphosis from lithe dance track to all-American rocker in just under six minutes'.
This guy's lingered in my 'Liked' songs on Spotify and popped up today on the shuffle, bit of digging and it turns out he's signed to John Prine's label, so belongs here I think:
